Brexit and UK export updates
As a UK company based in England, as of January 1st 2021 all orders placed with Two Bare Feet from any EU country (and potentially also Northern Ireland) will be subject to a new set of customs regulations. These new regulations come as a result of Brexit (The UK's exit from the Eurpoean Union) which came into force at the end of 2020.
Due to the last minute nature of negotiations and legislation surrounding Brexit, we are now working hard to understand the changes and adapt our services and communications appropriately so you know where you stand when placing an order with us.
The UK and EU governments are yet to clarify many of the finer points on this topic and advice is to contact HMRC before placing orders if you are unsure of the associated fees. To help keep you further informed, we will continually publish updates here as and when new information is released.
At present we are still charging VAT on all our orders going to EU countries (and also to Northern Ireland). This is as we have not yet been given guidance on how we should be handling VAT charges at this time. Please be aware that when ordering from any EU country, we will charge you for VAT at the UK rate (20%) on all applicable items, but that you may also be charged subsequent local VAT when the items pass through customs in your country. Local VAT will likely be charged as a percentage amount of the original item value and UK VAT amount combined.
Please note that Customs Duty will be charged on all orders now sent to EU countries (and also to Northern Ireland). This will most likely be calculated as a percentage of the item value, the shipping value, the UK VAT value, the local VAT value and the insurance value combined. Unfortunately we are unable at this time to estimate Duty costs for you due to the complexity of the situation, but want you to be aware that these extra costs will likely be incurred.
If returning items from any Non-UK country it's important that these are labelled on the customs declaration as 'Returns'. Failure to do this will incur Duty charges when the items enter the UK. Two Bare Feet will be unable to authorise these if duty is required to be paid and it has not already been covered by the customer.

Ordering from Northern Ireland
Despite Northern Ireland being classed as part of the UK and, like Great Britain, no longer being part of the EU, this does not mean that import regulations are straight forward. The difficulty here is Northern Ireland's connections with The Republic of Ireland and the option now for Northern Irish individuals to opt to choose both British (UK) and/or Irish (EU) citizenship.
Due to this muddling of EU and UK rules, it is still unclear whether Imports Duty will apply. We are now having to include a customs declaration with all orders dispatched to Northern Ireland, but are yet to hear if these customers will incur extra charges.
Ordering from the Republic of Ireland
The Republic of Ireland remains part of the EU. As such, items purchased from the UK to be sent to the Republic of Ireland will be subject to EU import duty fees, similarly to when ordering from any other non EU country. Please be advised that at this time you will be charged UK VAT, EU VAT, EU Duty and potentially also a Customs admin fee. We are unable at this time to tell you definitely what these fees will be. Please read the sections above, titled 'VAT Charges' and 'Duty charges' for more information.
Ordering from any other EU member state
Now the UK has left the EU, all orders placed with Two Bare Feet will be subject to EU import duty fees, similarly to when ordering from any other non EU country. Please be advised that at this time you will be charged UK VAT, EU VAT, EU Duty and potentially also a Customs admin fee. We are unable at this time to tell you definitely what these fees will be. Please read the sections above, titled 'VAT Charges' and 'Duty charges' for more information.
Ordering from any other Non-EU country
There are no changes made to ordering from any other Non-EU country. No UK VAT is charged on orders to Non-EU countries. You would previously have expected to pay Import Duty and Local VAT to customs in your country, and these fees will remain unchanged, although we are still unable to quote exact costs as this depends on a number of external factors such as: postage cost, insurance and admin fees.
