Best Stunt Scooter for Beginners

The popularity of stunt scooters has increased in recent years. They are easy to get to grips with, and offer a good starting point for kids looking to get into an action sport or simply have fun rolling around. But with so many different brands, styles and size options available, it can be difficult to know which scooter is right for you or your child.

What makes a scooter a stunt scooter?

You’ve probably seen adjustable scooters that collapse and fold to make transportation and storage easier, but if you’re looking for a proper stunt scooter that you can use to learn tricks, we recommend staying away from these.

Stunt scooters are rigidly constructed: they do not fold as they are built to be strong. This is important as they need to withstand drops, heavy landings and the pressure put on them when performing tricks. Using a foldable scooter to hit a ramp or jump down a stair set could easily cause injury if it were to collapse or break on impact.

Two Bare Feet’s stunt scooters are designed to withstand the type of heavy handling involved in learning and landing tricks. All our models are made from a solid, lightweight alloy with just a few key adjustable parts.

Stunt scooters are made up of multiple parts. It’s important that all of these are strong and able to withstand impact. The general build consists of the

following main parts:

  • Deck and headtube
  • Handlebars
  • Forks
  • Clamp
  • Wheels
  • Brake

In addition, there are the moving parts within those above such as the headset, contained by the headtube, which allows the handlebars and forks to spin. Bearings are also housed inside the wheels, allowing the wheels to spin.

Stunt scooter sizes for different ages

When trying to find the right size stunt scooter, height is far more important than age. However, there is no exact size for any particular height. A stunt scooter’s handlebars should ideally sit somewhere between the waist and hips but this is also down to preference. Advanced riders may opt for a lower handlebar height, as it can makes tricks easier. Others may prefer a higher bar height for more comfortable cruising.

Two Bare Feet’s stunt scooter range comes in a number of options, which offer riders slightly different height choices. Generally, our scooters are designed to suit all levels of ability, but our selection also accommodates advanced riders. Each scooter listed on our website has the scooter’s height displayed in the product description.

We recommend that beginners take a measurement from the ground up to their hip, then from the ground up to the naval. The middle point between the two measurements will serve as a guide to the height most suitable for you.

Buy a complete stunt scooter

More advanced scooter riders looking for a new set up may choose to go with a custom build. This means gathering the individual parts needed to build the scooter themselves. While this does offer a degree of freedom to the experienced rider, who understands the implications of their chosen specs, we wouldn’t encourage beginners to take this approach to acquiring their first scooter.

That’s why all TBF stunt scooters come complete and ready to ride. All you have to do is fix the handlebars in place with the clamp once you take it out of the box, carry out your regular bolt safety checks, and then jump on and push away. This makes life much easier for beginners as you know you’re getting an optimised problem-free setup – all you need to do is focus on learning to ride.

Scooter budget

It’s important to consider how much to spend when looking for your first scooter. Think about whether you want an entry-level ride that is suitable for learning on for younger riders, or maybe up your budget and buy something that is better suited to a quick-learning rider who is looking to master tricks right away. Fortunately, we offer a wide range of options so there will always be something suitable for beginner riders at Two Bare Feet.
