Help to extend the life of your snorkelling equipment with these tips
Transport your snorkelling equipement in a suitable carry bag whenever possible to avoid unnecessary scratches, bumps and dents.
Check your mask before each use to make sure if seals around your face. You can create a better seal by soaking the mask in warm water (recommended 70oC) for about a minute. Wait for the mask to cool before putting on your face. Then, as the mask cools the skirt will conform naturally to your face.
Check the snorkel mouthpiece bite tabs as some people have a tendancy to gnaw on these while snorkeling (you know who you are). We also suggest before each use to pour some germ killing mouthwash into the barrel or the mouthpiece of the snorkel for added protection.
After use we recommend you soak masks and snorkels in warm soapy water dissolve any environmental build ups such as salt water deposits or dirt. If possible, store both in an air tight container for maximum protection. By comparison, fins need very little in the way of care and maintenance - a simple rinse in fresh water will help remove any dirt build up.
Store your mask, snorkel and fins in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and away from contact with harmful objects.
Over time and exposure to the environment, silicone does begin to take on a pink to yellowish cloudy hue. This is natural for the material but does not affect the overall performance of the mask for its intended purpose.
